1-clinic SamMI is one of the first built in central Asia, a large, multidisciplinary hospital. Its construction began in 1926 according to the most advanced projects of that time and in 1929 began its activities under the name "Republican Hospital," since at that time the city of Samarkand was the capital of Uzbekistan. At the departments located on the basis of the clinic's departments, great discoveries were made on the current problems of clinical and experimental medicine. According to the materials of the clinic, about 500 doctoral and master's theses were defended. At one time, such outstanding scientists worked as academicians of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan U.A. Aripov, I.Z. Zakirov, professors F.M. Golub, N.A. Mirzoyan, N.I. Medvedev, associate professor B.K. Karakhadzhaev, academicians of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences RM.Khaitov, N.M. Mukharlyamov, Professor E.S. Avetisov and many others.
