FACULTY HISTORY

The Faculty of Medicine began its activity in 1930, when the Samarkand State Medical Institute was established, and until 1963 it was the only faculty of the institute. The main departments of the faculty were created in 1930-1935. In connection with the assignment in 1947 to the institute of the second, and in 1965 - the highest first category of universities, new departments and courses were created here. Accordingly, each department and course has a rich history and invaluable experience in training qualified specialists. Among the graduates of the faculty were: Musabaev I.K. (academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Russian Federation, laureate of the Beruni State Prize, Honored Doctor of the Republic, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences), U.O. Oripov (scientist-surgeon, doctor of medical sciences, professor, honored doctor of the republic, honored scientist of the former USSR, member of the USSR Academy of Sciences and the New York Academy, honorary doctor Budapest Medical University. Simmelweis), M.G. Gulyamov (corresponding member of the USSR and RF Academy of Sciences), laureate of the State Prize named after I. Abu Ali ibn Sino), R.M. Among the talented students of the faculty, 2 were awarded scholarships of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 6 - State scholarships named after A. Ibn Sino, 2 - State scholarship named after I. Karimov, 4 - Association of Physicians of the Republic of Uzbekistan and 3 - Trade Union of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In addition, more than 50 talented students of the faculty became winners of prestigious international and republican competitions, scientific Olympiads.

The faculty has 2395 students. Training is conducted in Uzbek, Russian and English in accordance with the qualification requirements of a doctor of medicine (attending physician) in the direction 5510100 - "General Medicine".

Strict adherence to the discipline of teaching, the widespread introduction of advanced pedagogical technologies in pedagogical practice, improving the quality and efficiency of teaching at the departments of the faculty play a primary role in organizing the educational process.

Regular material support of teachers and students, cash prizes, admission of students for prestigious state scholarships, as well as the scholarship of the Association of Doctors of Uzbekistan find a lively response among the staff of the institute.

Deputy Deans of the Faculty Kodirov N.D., Nabiev T.Kh., Makhramkulov Z.M., Faizullaev D.Sh. and Ortikov A.A. in the course of performing their daily work, they try to understand the life of each student, provide the necessary assistance, regularly meet with their parents. The faculty continues to work on rationalizing the activities of the dean's office, introducing the positions of deputy deans for each course, maintaining class attendance from 99.6 to 99.8%, high-quality student performance in subjects during each session at the level of 80-90%.

The scientific work carried out by the scientists of the faculty is inextricably linked with the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel and the requirements of practical health. It should also be noted that the faculty scientists regularly participate in competitions for research grants.

Much attention is paid to working with gifted students, in 2020 more than 100 students were admitted to the corresponding group; they took an active part in the work of student scientific circles, represented the institute at republican olympiads, made reports at republican and international scientific conferences, were awarded publications, medals and diplomas. Some of them identified topics for future master's and doctoral dissertations, and began serious research work.

Spiritual and educational work at the faculty helps students to master universal human cultural values, centuries-old traditions and rich heritage of our people, a special way of forming a sovereign Uzbekistan, the formation of high spiritual and moral qualities based on instilling a sense of patriotism and pride in our country.

SPIRITUAL AND ENLIGHTENING WORK AT THE MEDICAL FACULTY

One of the main activities of the faculty is to instill in students moral values, interest in their professional activities, the need for a healthy lifestyle, their involvement in the social and cultural activities of the institute. To fulfill these tasks, the faculty has a pedagogical council, which carries out its activities in accordance with the approved plan. Each group of the faculty has a curator who is chosen from among experienced teachers. To usefully spend their free time, students of the faculty, under the guidance of curators, participate in mass events, amateur events, visit theaters and museums, historical monuments and sights of Samarkand and the republic.

Students of the faculty take part in various creative competitions held in the republic. Much attention is paid to physical culture and sports. Faculty students are engaged in swimming, tennis, chess, football, basketball, volleyball, national wrestling, martial arts, athletics, many of them are engaged in the sports complex of the institute. Many of the students took an active part in regional and republican sports competitions.

Cultural work is aimed at the meaningful organization of students' leisure. One of the main activities of the faculty is the formation of high moral values among students, the development of interest in professional activities and a healthy lifestyle.

Spiritual and educational work is carried out on the basis of an approved plan, according to which various events are held in conjunction with historical dates, national holidays, sports competitions, law enforcement agencies, law enforcement agencies, spiritual centers and other partner organizations.

RESEARCH WORK

The staff of the departments of the Faculty of Medicine are actively involved in research work. The scientific and technical level of research is at a high methodological and modern level.

Research work on the topic "Maternal and Child Health" plays an important role in the development of medical science of the faculty. At the same time, taking into account the regional specifics, diagnostics, prevention and treatment of women and children are carried out in accordance with the region. The results of the research are applied in practice and lead to an improvement in the quality of treatment and prevention.

More than 70 teachers of the faculty have improved their qualifications in large foreign centers, many of our teachers have participated in prestigious international conferences with relevant reports. Research by the Faculty's scientists is published in international, national and local publications.

The participation of students in the work of scientific circles (SSS) is an integral part of the working process of the faculty. 740 students actively participate in the clubs. Their scientific works are annually presented at conferences of young scientists, the best works are sent to interuniversity conferences, and annually 15-20 students of the faculty become the owners of honorary first places in scientific competitions. All diplomas and certificates received by students are then taken into account by the dean's office when applying for study abroad, when entering the institutes of postgraduate education.

STUDENT SCIENTIFIC SOCIETY

The participation of students in the work of scientific circles is an integral part of the educational process of the faculty. It employs over 150 students. Research materials are published annually at the conference of young scientists of the university, and the best works are annually submitted to interuniversity scientific conferences, which receive 10-15 prizes. This allows the dean's office to think about postgraduate education, the appointment of personal scholarships for students, the selection of candidates for research work, postgraduate studies, advanced training abroad, and so on.

On May 20-28, 2020, the Republican Online Olympiad was held among students of higher educational institutions. The Olympiad was attended by students from different universities in different disciplines. According to the results, Ibragimov Sherzod, a student of the medical faculty of the Samarkand State Medical Institute, took the first place in the subject "English".
